Top Legal Industry News for June 2021: Law Firm Hires, Pro-Bono, & Innovation

Summer is upon us and we’re back with another edition of the National Law Review’s legal industry news column. This week, we cover the latest law firm hiring, pro bono, and legal award recognition news. Read on for the latest updates:

Law Firm Hires & Moves

The Young Lawyers’ Section (YLS) of the Chicago Bar Association named Clifford Law Offices’ Tracy Brammeier as its next chair as well as an executive council at the YLS Annual Meeting held June 2, 2021.

Ms. Brammeier’s practice focuses on aviation, transportation, premises, and construction liability in addition to other areas of personal injury and wrongful death litigation. She also participated in the YLS Wills for Heroes project.

“For the last year, we have all worked to stay in touch with clients and colleagues, trying to adapt as we lost access to in-person meetings, hearings, and events,” said Ms. Brammeier. “As we figure out our ‘new normal’ in a post-COVID world, the YLS is more essential to its members than ever before by providing a consistent space for legal education and social engagement to sustain the community environment that is so important to our professional success and personal fulfillment.”

Steven M. Regan joined Steptoe & Johnson’s Business Department in its Pittsburgh office. Mr. Regan’s practice focuses on real estate, real estate development, and corporate transactions. Mr. Regan represents real estate investors in structuring real estate investments and executing acquisition and financing of projects in all asset classes.

“I am excited to welcome Steve to Steptoe & Johnson PLLC. He will be an asset to both our real estate and transactional teams,” said firm CEO Christopher L. Norris McLaughlin law firm hired new attorneys to join the Pennsylvania office’s litigation practice, as well as the addition of one summer associate. The new hires include:

  • Thomas H. Dinkelacker concentrates on municipal, land use, and real estate law and represents clients before zoning hearing boards, code appeal boards, governing bodies, and various Pennsylvania Courts.
  • Rebecca J. Grausam-Charamella focuses on complex litigation matters and represents a multitude of clients at jury trials, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations. She also served as a trial attorney for State Farm Insurance Company for eight years.
  • Andrew J. Shaw concentrates his practice on commercial litigation, and has a wide range of experience through all phases of litigation in both state and federal courts.
  • William R. Murphy III defends individuals involved in civil litigation for general liability matters. He also represents insurance carriers, and he has experience in insurance fraud and automobile accidents.
  • Rocco Beltrami will temporarily join as a summer associate to assist the attorneys while he is in law school at Villanova Charles Widger School of Law.

Manatt, Phelps and Phillips, LLP law firm announced the addition of Naeun Rim to their Los Angeles firm as a litigation partner. Ms. Rim represents clients at the intersection of civil litigation and white-collar defense matters across the health care, financial services, entertainment and technology industries.

Ms. Rim is also one of a few Asian American women to serve as trial counsel for a Fortune 150 company in one of California’s biggest environmental trials.

“Naeun will be a strong asset to what our clients view as a well-established litigation powerhouse,” Donna L. Wilson, Manatt’s CEO and managing partner said in the announcement.

Democracy Forward named lawyer Skye Perryman as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.  Ms. Perryman is a founding litigator of the organization. As president and CEO, Ms. Perryman will focus on confronting unlawful threats to democracy and social progress. She succeeds Anne Harkavy, the organization’s founding executive director.

“As we continue to see the basic values of our democracy under attack, Skye Perryman is the right leader at the right time for Democracy Forward,” said Marc Elias, head of the Political Law practice at Perkins Coie and chair of the board of Democracy Forward. “She is a successful litigator, effective strategist, and a coalition builder who is committed to taking on critical fights to advance social progress and democratic values. We are all thrilled to welcome Skye back to Democracy Forward to lead its next phase at a time when the stakes for our nation’s future could not be higher.”

Ms. Perryman most recently served as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, where she worked to enhance access and equity in women’s health care.

“We must use all tools at our disposal to fight for the promise of democracy at this crucial moment. It is an honor to be rejoining the team at Democracy Forward as we expand the scope and reach of our work.” said Ms. Perryman.

Law Firm Philanthropy and Pro Bono

Jackson Lewis P.C. partnered with The Association of Corporate Counsel’s Employment and Labor Law Network (ACC) to develop “RACE Talks: Realign Act Change Engage,”  a racial equity program that focuses on individual transformation and change to create a more racially just workplace and society. The RACE Talks program highlighted specific actions to advance social justice in society, and included podcasts, videos and articles.

Jackson Lewis’ Samia M. Kirmani led workplace bias sessions and facilitated live discussions with Michael D. Thomas and Tanya A. BovéeWeldon H. Latham also added to the discussions.

“We were thrilled that ACC asked Jackson Lewis to create a program designed to advance racial justice,” said Ms. Bovée. “2020 was a racial awakening for many, and this was the perfect opportunity to focus on how individuals can transform and bring about positive change. We created this program with the goal that participants would step outside of their comfort zone, disrupt their own status quo, and think differently about race and the concept of bias.”

North Carolina’s Pro Bono Resource Center inducted four Ward and Smith law firm attorneys into the 2020 North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society. Despite the challenges 2020 brought, Mary CavanaughChris EdwardsPaul Fanning and Lance Martin participated in a wide range of pro bono activities across the state.

“Many North Carolina attorneys recognized the needs brought about by COVID-19 and provided pro bono legal services to help ensure that ‘justice shall be administered without favor, denial, or delay,’ as is mandated by our state’s Constitution,” said North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Newby in the announcement.

Frost Brown Todd (FBT) is celebrating Juneteenth this year by providing the entirety of the ParentPreneur Foundation’s $10,000 Father’s Day grant awards, where ten dads of color will receive $1,000 a piece for their start-up businesses.

The ParentPreneur Foundation provides opportunities for black entrepreneurs who are in the start-up business to get a leg up and get started and strives to empower these parents to leave a good legacy for their children.

“The world of start-ups is a challenge no matter who you are, but that is especially true of Black entrepreneurs,” said Terrence Reeves, chair of FBT’s Venture Capital industry team. “Funding this grant is another example of how Frost Brown Todd’s venture capital services go beyond just providing legal support. Being part of this project at a time when the U.S. is celebrating Juneteenth makes it all that more special. We look forward to seeing the impact this grant program will make on the lives and livelihoods of the recipients.”

Legal Industry Awards & Recognition

The Globe and Mail named McCarthy Tétrault as a recipient of its first Report on Business Top 25 Best B2B Brands award. McCarthy Tétrault earned the top honor in the legal category out of 11 law firms.

The Best B2B Brands is a new research initiative from the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business Magazine with Ipsos. The list is based on 42 different evaluations related to culture, innovation and other initiatives from 406 Canadian executives who were surveyed in January and February of this year.

“This acknowledgement is a true testament to our firm’s core values of investing in our people, our clients and our communities,” said Dave Leonard, CEO at McCarthy Tétrault. “Our top priority has always been our clients’ sustained success, and we recognize that the best way to achieve this is to support a collaborative, inclusive and innovative culture that evolves with the pace of business.”

For the third year in a row, the Legal 500 United States 2021 ranked MoginRubin in the category of Antitrust and Civil Litigation/Class Actions: Plaintiff. The Legal 500 ranks practice areas nationally instead of by state.

The Legal 500 recognized the following MoginRubin attorneys:

Greenberg Traurig law firm received the Morgan Stanley Leadership in Excellence in Inclusion and Diversity award.  Bradford D. Kaufman, Greenberg Traurig co-president and the global chairman of Professional Development and Integration, accepted the award on behalf of the firm.

Greenberg Traurig invested $5 million over five years to address systemic racism and launched a Justice Action Initiative to target pro bono work in the areas of economic, social, and racial justice. The firm also joined in creating the Law Firm Anti-Racism Alliance.

Chambers USA recognized Bracewell law firm in its 2021 rankings, giving the firm a Nationwide Band 1 ranking in Oil & Gas (Regulatory & Litigation) for the seventh consecutive year. Bracewell also ranked as a Band 1 firm in the Texas: Environment category for the fifth consecutive year.

Overall, Bracewell ranked with 89 other firms for excellence in representing clients in the real estate, technology, energy and infrastructure sectors. Additionally, Chambers ranked 50 percent of Bracewell’s partners as leaders in their practice areas.

The Latest Legal Industry News: Attorney Promotions, Law Firm Innovation & Firm Recognition

Welcome back to another edition of our legal and consulting industry news column. Below, we discuss the latest attorney promotions, lawyer recognition and law firm innovation. Keep reading for all the latest news:

Attorney Hires and Promotions

Peter W. Thomas was elected the new President and Managing Partner of Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville P.C., effective April 1, 2021.  Mr. Thomas succeeds Jim Jorling, who held the position since 2016.

Mr. Thomas joined Powers in 1991 and has been a Principal in the firm since 1996. Mr. Thomas focuses his practice on disability and rehabilitation policy, Medicare coverage and reimbursement and other areas of healthcare policy.

Matthew A. Rossi joined Vedder Price as a Shareholder in their Government Investigations & White Collar defense group. Mr. Rossi previously served as Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Enforcement Division, where he primarily investigated and litigated violations of the federal securities laws by investment advisers, broker-dealers, large financial institutions and others. Mr. Rossi also served as Senior Counsel in the SEC’s Asset Management Unit, a specialized unit within the Enforcement Division that investigates misconduct by investment advisers, private funds and registered investment companies.

“Matt’s outstanding experience and credentials, in particular at the SEC’s home office in the Asset Management Unit and as Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel, are a great fit for our practice,” said Junaid A. Zubairi, Chair of the firm’s Government Investigations & White Collar Defense group.

Alison P. Snyder joined Romer Debbas LLP as an associate, supporting the residential real estate practice. Ms. Snyder specializes in assisting buyers, sellers and lending institutions involved in residential real estate transactions. She also has experience in pre-contract due diligence, including the review of offering plans, financial statements, and co-op/condo board minutes.

Scott W. MacCormack was confirmed as Davis Wright Tremaine’s new managing partner, who will begin his new position this summer. Mr. MacCormack, who joined the firm in 2008, served on the Executive Committee for six years,  also chaired the firm’s Compensation Committee, and served as co-chair of the firm’s energy practice.

“Scott is committed to executing our strategic plan to drive growth, building on our commitment to foster a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment, and strengthening the firm’s culture as we evolve how we work post-pandemic,” said Jeffrey P. Gray, who was the former managing partner. “He is an excellent choice to maintain the firm’s success and continue to grow it.”

Attorney and Law Firm Recognition

Fourteen Gilbert attorneys were recognized on the 2020 Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll, which represents nearly half of the attorneys at the firm. The 2020 Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll highlights attorneys in Washington, D.C. who have contributed 50 hours or more of pro bono work to those who cannot afford legal counsel.

Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and Chief Judge Anita Josey-Herring of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia said of the winners, “we salute you for using your talents and expertise to help those unable to afford an attorney.”

All attorneys and employees at Gilbert participate in public service activities, including substantial pro bono legal work, including participation in and support of public interest organizations, community initiatives, and local educational and charitable activities. The firm makes itself available to individuals and organizations who need expert legal assistance in a wide variety of areas including immigration, family law, torts, civil rights, housing, special education, insurance, and asylum. The D.C. Chief Judges further noted that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they “saw even greater need for pro bono service in 2020.”

BTI Consulting ranked Barnes and Thornburg as No. 38 on its 2021 Client Service A-Team list, a 19-place climb from the firm’s previous ranking. Barnes and Thornburg ranked within the top 25 firms for categories such as “Deals with Unexpected Changes,” “Fielding the Absolute Best Team,” “Quality Products,” “Quickly Assessing Your Situation” and “Understands the Client’s Business.”

To determine what firms made the list, BTI Consulting conducted a survey of 350 top legal decision-makers at large organizations with $700 million or more in revenue. However, only 282 law firms were mentioned by name for the categories surveyed by legal decision makers.

Lex Machina, a LexisNexis company and a leading provider of Legal Analytics® to law firms and companies, recognized Perkins Coie as a leading firm for patent litigation defense in 2020 in its annual Patent Litigation Report. The firm ranked second for national law firms handling the most patent defense cases with 72 cases across 18 jurisdictions.

Perkins Coie also ranked as one of the top firms for petitioners in post-grant proceedings. Lex Machina develops the rankings by summarizing federal district court data from the past decade and post-grant data since the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s (PTAB) inception in 2012. Lex Machina’s report also highlights the top patent litigation trends from the past year.

Law Firm Innovation and Development

The Wage & Hour Guide for Employers app from Epstein Becker Green (EBG) was recently updated to incorporate employment law changes for 2021. Over 46 states and / or localities had changes to their employment laws that were effective January 1, 2021, and the EBG app was updated to track those changes.  First released in February 2012, the app provides wage and hour information on a variety of employment law concerns, including:

  • Overtime exemptions
  • Minimum wages
  • Overtime
  • Meal periods
  • Rest periods
  • On-call time
  • Travel time
  • Tips

Information on new employment law changes is organized on the app and includes citations to statutes, regulations and guidelines.

Legal tech platform Joinder, incubated at Orrick Labs and helmed by former Orrick partner Don Keller, is now pursuing growth as an independent SaaS (Software as a Service) company.

Joinder facilitates corporate legal department and legal service provider collaboration by creating a single digital workspace for data storage, task management, communications and document management.

Orrick Labs was launched as a way to identify solutions for problems where there was no workable solution in the marketplace.  Mitch Zulkie, Orrick Chairman and CEO, says, “Joinder is the result of our client’s demands for more insight into their records and it is just that: a better platform for legal engagement, built by a team that understands how lawyers and legal departments work together.”

Legal Industry News from the National Law Review: Law Firm Hires, Attorney Accolades and Recognition and Innovation

As we move into fall, the National Law Review’s editorial team takes a look at the constantly evolving legal industry landscape—paying special attention to law firm hires, attorney awards and law firm innovation.

Law Firm Moves & Hires

Securities  attorney Paul McCurdy joined Katten’s Financial Markets and Funds group as a Partner in New York. Before joining Katten, McCurdy led the broker-dealer regulatory practice for over 20 years at his previous firm, and  he also previously served as an executive committee member and as the firm’s chairman.

In his practice, McCurdy represents investment banking, retail, clearing and direct broker-dealers and advisory firms in regulatory and enforcement matters. He has defended witnesses in over 200 interviews before the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Department of Justice.

Katten is a solid leader in the financial services industry, well-known as a one-stop resource with a deep bench of talent and some of the most experienced litigation and regulatory enforcement attorneys there are,” McCurdy said.

Arent Fox law firm added Partner John Zaimes and Counsel Roxanne Wilson to its Labor and Employmentpractice in Los Angeles. The pair worked together at Mayer Brown before joining Arent Fox.

“John and Roxanne join our national team at an extremely opportune time,” said Michael L. Stevens, labor & employment practice leader. “Since the start of the year, our clients have increasingly sought our counsel as the COVID-19 pandemic has forced them to shift their business and employment strategies and operations. Now, we’re starting to see a growing number of disputes with employees on a variety of fronts and adding John and Roxanne will strengthen our support for clients in California and across the country.”

Wilson focuses her practice on advising clients on employment-related class actionsregarding drug and alcohol policies, sick leave, employment application and wage and hour issues.

Zaimes advises clients on non-compete agreements, employee non-solicitation agreements, and the protection of trade secrets, and defends clients in actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act and Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Grant Schneider joined the Washington, D.C. office of Venable as the senior director of cybersecurity services. Previously, Schneider was the federal chief information security officer for the White House Office of Management and Budget. He also served as the senior director for cybersecurity policy on the White House National Security Council.

During his time working for the federal government, Scheider oversaw the review of the government’s cybersecurity enterprise and worked with Congress on the SECURE Technology Act which established the Federal Acquisition Security Council.

“Grant joins us from a distinguished career in the federal government, where he led numerous initiatives that were pivotal to managing risk and enhancing our national cybersecurity, not least of which was his recent work on supply chain security, encryption, and identity management. We look forward to welcoming him to our team and leveraging this experience in service to our clients,” said Ari Schwartz, managing director of cybersecurity services at the firm.

Schneider also worked as the senior director for cybersecurity policy for the National Security Council, helping gain presidential approval for the first National Cyber Strategy in more than 15 years.

Marc Boiron and Rebecca Rettig joined Manatt law firm as partners in the firm’s financial services group and fintech practice. Boiron will be based out of the firm’s Los Angeles office and Rettig is joining the firm’s New York office.

Boiron, a leading corporate lawyer and blockchain and virtual currency advisor, has experience guiding clients through issues such as token distributions, regulatory compliance and financings. Boiron is admitted in California and Delaware and advises companies on governance and corporate issues.

Rettig was recognized as one of the top 100 women lawyers in New York City by Crain’s New York Business, and represents blockchain and virtual currency companies in litigation and private arbitrations. She works with Fortune 100 companies on securities, shareholder derivative and contract disputes.

Maja Zerjal Fink of Arnold & Porter

Maja Zerjal Fink joined Arnold & Porter’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice as a partner in New York City.

Zerjal Fink represents clients in corporate reorganizations and insolvency proceedings, and has been involved in some of the largest reorganization cases in the U.S., including the $74 billion restructuring of Puerto Rico’s outstanding debt load, as well as the $18 billion debt of Caesars Entertainment.

“I am very pleased to welcome Maja to the team. She is a talented lawyer with significant experience in some of the most complex bankruptcy cases and restructuring matters,” said Michael Messersmith, chair of the Bankruptcy and Restructuring group at Arnold & Porter. “Maja’s expertise, energy and business-focused mindset will complement our existing strengths and help our clients navigate the challenging restructuring landscape during this unprecedented time.”

Zerjal Fink was named a Pro Bono Star by Human Rights First and is a 2020 member of the International Insolvency Institute’s NextGen Class IX.

“I am thrilled to be joining Arnold & Porter’s world-class Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice,” Zerjal Fink said. “I look forward to expanding my practice and helping clients achieve their goals with a sophisticated and collegial team of lawyers.”

Jeffrey K. Cassin and Ross J. Switkes joined Norris McLaughlin as Members of the firm.

Cassin will serve as the lead corporate attorney in the firm’s Business Law Practice Group, and Switkes joined the Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Practice Group in the firm’s New Jersey office.

Norris McLaughlin Chairman John N. Vanarthos said the additions of Cassin and Switkes are critical components of the firm’s pandemic strategy.

Switkes’ practice includes corporate restructuring, and commercial litigation, debtor/creditor rights and corporate restructuring. He currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey, and is a Trustee of the Mercer County Bar Association.

Attorney Awards and Recognitions

The Utah State Bar Labor & Employment Law Section named Elizabeth “Terry” Dunningof Holland & Hart law firm as a recipient of its 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dunning graduated from Harvard Law School in 1977 and went on to achieve equity partnerships at two Am Law 200 firms in a career spanning four decades. Dunning is recognized as a top employment law attorney in Utah and nationwide, and she has dedicated her time to educating others in the profession, serving as a mentor to junior women attorneys.

“Terry truly is the whole package—she is smart, hard-working, and devoted to her clients, her colleagues, her community, and to the rule of law,” said Brit Merril, one of the newer members of Holland & Hart’s Employment team and Denning’s mentee. “Terry is an exceptional mentor, a skilled advocate, and the embodiment of civility and professionalism.”

In addition to her legal career, Denning has served in leadership roles on the Board of Trustees for the Presbyterian Church Foundation and the Committee on Mission Responsibility Through Investment for the Presbyterian Church.

The St. Louis Business Journal named Armstrong Teasdale Partner Sarah Sise as one of its Most Influential Business Women for 2020, selecting Sise as one of 24 recipients out of 225 nominations.

Sise is the co-leader of Armstrong Teasdale’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice and has over 20 years of experience in the field. Sise also serves as co-chair of Armstrong Teasdale’s Inclusion Committee and is involved in the firm’s Women’s Inclusion Network.

Paul Klimos of DLA Piper

DLA Piper announced Paul Klimos, an associate in DLA Piper’s Corporate Practice, was appointed to the Global Future Council on Agile Governance of the World Economic Forum (WEF). Klimos will begin his one-year period of membership on October 1, 2020.  The WEF Global Future Council’s is invitation only, and is comprised of thought leaders from across academia, business, civil society and government, dedicated to innovation and sustainability with an eye to the future.  Klimos’ experience working with emerging technologies and entrepreneurs will inform his time on the WEF Global Future Council.  In his practice, he represents emerging growth companies at all levels, as well as investors.

Nancy S. Shilepsky, partner in Sherin and Lodgen’s Employment Department, has been appointed to a three-year term as Employee Co-chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Labor and Employment Law’s International Labor and Employment Law Committee. Her term began on September 1, 2020 and will run through the end of August 2023.  In this role, Shilepsky will study and report on foreign labor relations law and employment practices, with an emphasis on US executives and foreign executives working in the US. Shilepsky, along with her role at Sherin & Lodgen, has an internationally recognized reputation in executive employment compensation.  On her role with the ABA, Shilepsky says:

The International Labor and Employment Law Committee has the unique responsibility of staying apprised of legal developments across the world. I’m honored to receive this appointment and look forward to working with members of the Committee to offer the most up-to-date analysis of international employment law.

Nancy is a leading influence in the world of executive advocacy and employment law and litigation and is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. She is a champion of the interests of individuals and a trusted counselor to executives, professionals, and partners across a wide range of industries. Nancy has established an internationally recognized reputation representing such clients in complex matters involving executive employment and compensation. She is known for her pioneering efforts in wrongful termination and discrimination cases. Sonny Haynes of Womble Bond Dickinson

Womble Bond Dickinson announced that Sonny Haynes, a partner in the Winston-Salem office, has been named one of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA)’s Rising Stars for 2020. Attorneys who are given this honor must have at least eight years of experience in the legal profession, have leadership and achievements that are outstanding and have demonstrated a commitment to community service, pro bono work, and diversity, inclusion and equality.

Haynes fulfills these requirements through her practice focused on insurance defense, product liability and mass tort litigation.  She has been a member of the City of Winston-Salem’s Human Relations Commission since 2013, and she served on the Minorities in the Profession Committee of the North Carolina Bar association.  In her community, Haynes has recently focused on improving communication between community leaders and law enforcement on racial inequalities in the criminal justice system, among other community service efforts.

“Necessity is the mother of invention,” and the stress and constraints of COVID-19 has inspired many ideas to facilitate the adaptation required by the virus. The Pandemic Technology Resource Center, operated at  PandemicIp.org is a non-profit website with a searchable database of COVID-19 adaption ideas and technology, contributed to the public domain.  The goal of this initiative is to ensure useful adaption ideas are spread quickly, to reduce the spread of COVID-19.  PandemiciP.org is led by Jim Sulciner, a technology entrepreneur for over 30 years and former CEO of RTD Company and the website PandemicIP.org was organized by the intellectual property law firm Schwegman Lundberg & Woessner, P.A. (Schwegman).

PandemicIP.org’s board members Janal Kalis, a partner at Schwegman, and Russell Slifer, a former Deputy Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, infuse the endeavor with their expertise in patent licensing and commercialization.  This innovative website is a great place for users to search ideas and solutions, so others may benefit from the adaptations and discoveries made necessary by the virus. By sharing work, innovators can stand on each other’s shoulders and make the innovation’s required by these interesting times.

M&T Bank recently announced Nota, a Fintech tool designed to assist attorneys manage their trust accounts from their bank accounts.  The ABA recommends attorneys complete a three-way reconciliation process and balance their books against client ledgers and their bank statement.  Mistakes in this process can be time-consuming and expensive errors can lead to being out of compliance with state requirements and could mean inquiries, audits and possible disbarment. Nota was designed to simplify the trust account management process, creating a seamless and efficient tool for lawyers to adhere to their accounting requirements.  The tool was designed for small law firms and solo attorneys, which may not have extensive staff for accounting procedures.  Paul Garbian, president of Nota, says, “Nota is transforming the way lawyers manage their trust accounts.  We’ve reimagined the process by connecting it directly to the bank accounts and making it more intuitive, so attorneys spend less time managing their trust accounts and more time practicing law.”
